AIDS Alliance Nepal (AAN)
AAN (AIDS ALLIANCE NEPAL) is a national community based non-profit organization representing people living with HIV/AIDS through a network of individuals and groups who provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). AAN was formed in March 2005 in response to an emerging need for PLWHA (especially women and children living with HIV) to be given a voice.

Services provided by AAN
 1. Information
We send information updates to our members by mails and others through our web site. We are producing materials to provide information for members, our publications are:

  • Newsletter
  • Booklet on nutrition for positive living
  • Poster, stickers, brochures, pamphlets.
  • Report of the need assessment study of people living with HIV

2. Workshops for people living with HIV
We conduct two kinds of workshops, one providing basic information on HIV, positive living etc and other focused on building the skills like writing proposals, positive speaking, trainers training etc. This also provides an opportunity for people living with HIV to meet their peers and learn from each other in a safe and supportive environment.

3. Positive Speakers Bureau
To increase the visibility of HIV/AIDS, promote a positive image of HIV positive people and reinforce the message of prevention through personal testimony, positive speakers willing to talk publicly about living with HIV/AIDS speaks out in public. The speakers will be available to talk to schools, business sector, the medical profession and other interested groups.

4. Peer support
We provide people living with HIV in Nepal an opportunity to meet their peers. This can instill tremendous amount of confidence in people who have newly tested positive. It also enables people who have not been able to talk about their HIV status & provides an opportunity to be open about it. We ensure all information given to us remain confidential. People wanting to talk to another person living with HIV are also welcome to call us or email us and we will reply promptly.

5. Technical support for support groups of people living with HIV
Technical support including proposal writing, resource people for workshops, developing strategic plan, capacity building of the support groups etc can be provided as per requirements.

The Alliance of people living with HIV/AIDS in Nepal exists to improve the quality of lives of people living with HIV/AIDS in Nepal."
